Marketing Manager

Overview: Next Coast Ventures is the fastest growing venture capital firm in Texas with nearly a quarter billion  dollars of assets under management. Next Coast Ventures makes early stage investments in entrepreneurs who  are building disruptive companies in big markets. The firm provides a range of company-building resources to  empower its portfolio companies to scale themselves rapidly through its strong industry network, Entrepreneurs  Council program and the team’s own experiences as entrepreneurs. Job Description: Next Coast Ventures is seeking a Marketing Manager to support a variety of marketing initiatives  for the firm. The Marketing Manager will play a key role by promoting and expanding awareness of Next Coast  Ventures and its portfolio companies amongst entrepreneurs, the venture capital community, limited partners  and the technology and financial press. Additionally, the Marketing Manager will support the broader Next Coast  Ventures team in providing company-building services that add value to the firm’s portfolio companies.  

This is a generalist marketing role and requires someone with an understanding of the overall marketing  communications mix. Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as project management experience  and strong execution capabilities are essential. The ideal candidate will also have some experience with media  relations and event planning. This person will be proactive, eager to jump in and figure things out. Experience  working in or with either the technology industry or in the private equity/venture capital industry is a bonus. Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include: 

Brand and communication strategy 

  • Develop annual and quarterly marketing plans with key objectives and results 
  • Periodically review and update firm’s brand marketing strategy in collaboration with firm leadership 

Website & social media 

  • Maintain and update firm website with the goal of keeping content up-to-date, fresh and consistent  with overall communications strategy. 
  • Build follower base on social media and drive day-to-day social media activities, including maintaining a  consistent voice and presence across Twitter and LinkedIn 
  • Maintain the firm’s content scheduling software platform and ensuring visibility of the platform to  colleagues 

Content & collateral 

  • Draft and publish press releases for significant firm events 
  • Maintain firm marketing assets and collateral  
  • Work with firm management to support creation of thought leadership content such as blog articles
  • Draft monthly, quarterly and annual updates to investors  
  • Develop presentation decks and other collateral materials to support investor relations activities
  • Create various collateral that communicates the firm’s value proposition in creative and interesting ways
  • Develop and maintain process documentation  

Company building resources 

  • Design and implement portfolio company onboarding processes
  • Work with portfolio company executives to support announcements of investments 

Events 

  • Plan and execute Next Coast Ventures events, including the Annual Meeting and quarterly meet-ups  

Media/PR 

  • Maintain media lists that include key members of technology press in Austin and other Next Coast  markets 
  • Pitch stories that highlight Next Coast Ventures and its portfolio companies.  

 

Qualifications: 

  • 2-5 years of experience as a marketing professional with a preference for those in the financial or  technology industry 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Experience executing integrated marketing communications plans and campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to produce written content across a variety of formats (print, web, media,  presentations) leveraging a variety of software including marketing automation tools 
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills 
  • Some event planning and execution experience 
  • Experience with media relations, particularly in the technology and financial sectors, preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in working in the venture capital industry 
  • Hands on self-starter who seeks out ownership and responsibility in a dynamic environment 

 

Additional Information 

  • The work location for this role is at the firm’s office in Austin, Texas. This role is not remote. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States  
  • Must be able to lift 25+ pounds
