Recap of Our First Sales Leaders Lunch

In March, we had the pleasure of hosting our first Sales Leaders Lunch, bringing together several Austin portfolio company sales leaders. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers, share practical experiences, and discuss real challenges and opportunities in the B2B software sales space.

Thanks to the insights from Luke McNeal and Preston Butler, we had two interactive sessions that covered critical aspects of sales leadership:

    • Facilitated by Luke McNeal, former SVP Global Sales at DISCO.
    • We discussed how crucial it is to nail your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), emphasizing the importance of considering a large sample size of conversations and opportunities to avoid bias.
  2. Closing Business
    • Facilitated by Preston Butler, VP Sales, Central US at Qualtrics.
    • We explored the nuances between value-based and feature selling, highlighting how aligning your sales methodology with customer needs leads to more successful deals.

  • Tech Tools: We delved into our tech stack, exploring both tried-and-true solutions and new contenders, including game-changers like Distribute, Champify, Apollo.io, and Clay.
  • Turning Customers into Sales Advocates: From crafting case studies to leveraging referrals and customer advisory boards, we shared insights on driving sales from existing customers.
  • Executive Sponsorship: We discussed the power of executive sponsorship and how to educate and influence executive sponsors to collaborate effectively.
  • SDR Compensation: There was a lively debate on the merits and pitfalls of including pipeline generation in SDR compensation.
  • Maintaining a Healthy Pipeline: We shared insights on the importance of deal integrity and strategies for maintaining a healthy pipeline.
